On-line Barcode Verifiers
On-line barcode verifiers are used when a large volume of barcode labels are being printed and every one needs to be verified. The on-line verifier is connected to the barcode printer and is positioned to read the barcodes on the labels as they come out of the printer. If a barcode does not pass the preset requirements, the on-line verifier will tell the barcode printer to backup the label, mark over the failing label, and reprint that label. The placement and angle of the on-line barcode verifier in relation to the printer is crucial. If it's off even slightly, then the grades given the barcodes are suspect. It is recommend that the labels also be pulled taut by an external rewinder or applicator so that the natural curve of the label as it comes out of the barcode printer does not adversely affect the verifier's reading of the barcode.
